After email verification, the essential dw_comment cookie keeps you signed in to comment for up to 30 days. It is Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. Sign Out removes your current session. Comment verification links expire in 30 minutes. Commenting does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

Our Current Setup

We use Plausible Analytics to measure website traffic and readership. Plausible does not use analytics cookies. Previously stored analytics cookies may remain in your browser until they expire or you remove them; this site no longer loads Google Analytics. We currently display no advertising or affiliate banners and do not embed social media tracking widgets.

Hosting, Security, And Owner Sign-In

Our hosting and authentication services may use essential cookies or other technical mechanisms to deliver the site, protect against abuse, and authenticate the owner’s editorial access. Reading public articles does not require signing in. Email Subscriptions

Our subscription form sends your email address and consent to the site’s server. Subscription records and secure management token hashes are stored on the server, rather than in browser cookies or local storage. Confirmation and unsubscribe links use tokens or signatures in the link itself. Fonts And External Links

The site serves its fonts directly from Democrawonk. Loading these fonts does not require a separate request from your browser to Google Fonts.

Our social buttons and source links take you to external websites. We do not embed their feeds or tracking widgets on the public blog. When you follow a link, the destination may use its own cookies under its own policies. Tools used to distribute our articles to social platforms do not install visitor tracking cookies on this site.

You can review, delete, or block cookies in your browser’s privacy settings and use available tracking protections. Blocking essential cookies may interfere with commenting, owner sign-in, or hosting security. Browser privacy tools can also restrict analytics requests.
